The combination of cotton and polyester (65% cotton and 35% polyester) creates a very special garment because of the textile engineering principles associated with this type of fabric. The textile industry has been using cotton and polyester together for many years now. It was discovered that both fibers provide excellent performance; the cotton part provides all of the characteristics of a natural fiber, including breathability and softness, while the polyester provides the durability benefits associated with synthetic fibers. A good example of synergy occurs here, when the resultant product is much greater than the sum of its parts. Together they provide a well-rounded combination of comfort, durability and appearance.

Because cotton is such a soft and breathable material, it forms the majority of this blend. Cotton also allows the fabric to "breathe” due to the large percentage of cotton in the mixed fibers. This allows you to feel great and also allows for ample air flow through the garment so you will remain cool, dry and comfortable during the day. This is especially beneficial for individuals who perform physically demanding work, or for those who work in warmer environments. The higher percentage of cotton in the fabric also provides you with an enhanced and luxurious (non-synthetic) "cotton" feel, in comparison to wearing a shirt made up of a large percentage of polyester (>50%).For those looking for comfort in a high-quality garment, cotton is still the traditional material of choice.

However, the polyester in this shirt (35% of the shirt) provides some strength and utility to the garment. Polyester is also a very strong fibre, thereby being durable and long-lasting and helping the garment to have less wear and tear. 100% cotton shirts will wrinkle after about 10 hours of wear and will continue to lose their shape as they are washed and dried multiple times; however, the shirts that we sell in our blend will not wrinkle as quickly or lose their shape, thus giving them a crisp and professional look that requires little to no maintenance. The dye retention properties of polyester are excellent as well, which means that the dye used on the custom printed polo shirts will remain vibrant and true to the original colour for a very long time. Because these shirts are of greater durability, they also represent a much longer life usage than other fabrics; as such, the return on investment for individuals wearing these shirts is the highest dollar value.

195gsm weight provides a balance between strength and grace. The actual weight of the fabric (in grams per square meter) also influences how the shirt will drape over the body and how the consumer will perceive the overall quality of the polo shirt. Our choice of 195gsm fabric (as opposed to lighter weight fabrics, such as 140-160gsm) was done on purpose, to provide the end-user with an equal balance of weight in the apparel. Medium-weight apparel (such as 195gsm) has enough weight to provide the consumer with a high-quality feel and look of the shirt, while having sufficient weight to support more detailed embroideries and maintain the shirt's body shape.

Year-round comfort and breathable qualities are found in medium weight apparel, which also provides protection from the sun. Because of this, medium weight apparel is needed for all year-round wear. Lighter weight fabrics usually become flimsy, losing their structural integrity and becoming transparent - all of which harm the professionalism of the company wearing the apparel, and additionally, there is a lot less durability to a lightweight fabric when compared to a medium or heavyweight fabric (i.e. 195gsm). Very heavyweight fabrics (221gsm+) would typically create excessive bulkiness and excess heat while creating a restriction of freedom of movement and comfort when worn for a prolonged duration or during intense exercise. While heavyweight (221gsm+) fabrics are very appropriate for a rugby shirt, they are usually considered to be overkill for daily corporate or event wear.
